BHS would like to welcome our newest panthers and their families.
Virtual First Day
In an effort to continue our first day freshman only transition while complying with state regulations regarding time on learning (180 school days), we have developed a “Virtual First Day” for grades 10, 11 and 12. Therefore, on Tuesday, September 1, only grade 9 students will report to Beverly High School for their first day of school.
Students in grades 10, 11 and 12 will complete a series of on-line activities which will count as their first day. Completion of these activities will be recorded as their daily attendance. We are excited to pilot this program which if successful may create the possible potential for use for future “Virtual School Days.” This opportunity would not be possible if it were not for the hard work and forward thinking of the district in terms of technology. Beverly is one of few districts in the Commonwealth that has the capability to orchestrate such a program.
On the evening of Monday, August 31st directions for the online activities will be sent home to students in 10, 11 and 12 via Connect Ed and posted on the Beverly High School website. These activities will include the uploading of student summer reading assignments, and completion of Naviance assessments. Each grade level will have specific directions to follow. Students will have from the time they receive the assignment on August 31st until 11:59 PM on September 1 to complete this work. Once again, completing this work will count for your student's attendance on the “Virtual First Day.”
All educational and non-academic programs, activities and employment opportunities at Beverly Public Schools are offered without regard to race, color, sex, religion, national origin, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, homelessness, age and/or, disability, and any other class or characteristic protected by law.
