English Research Paper-Children’s Literature (160 points)

You will be writing a brief, informative research paper for English class.  The topic of the papers will be Children’s Literature.  I will give you a list of several children’s authors; you will choose one (or choose your own, pending approval) and re-read at least two of his or her books.  Choose an author with whom you are familiar; this will make your research enjoyable and rewarding!

To study the author in-depth, you will conduct research to find any books, magazine articles, newspaper articles, or web sites that contain literary criticisms of the author’s works.

As you re-read the books, and as you conduct your research, you will solidify a thesis statement that you will prove in a two- to three-page research paper.  You will also present an oral report (see Oral Presentation section) to share your findings with the class.
