BHS Nurses

Welcome to the Beverly High School Health Office webpage.  There are three nurses in the health office; Kim Pappas, BSN, RN; Cathy Ober, LPN; and Jodi Elder, BSN, RN.  The school health office is open Monday - Friday, during school hours.  We are available to assist all students with their health and wellness needs, with an emphasis placed on health maintenance and prevention.

Jodi Elder, BSN, RN

I graduated from Beverly High School and went on to earn my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from Boston College.  I spent most of my nursing career at Children’s Hospital, Boston.  I started as a staff nurse on a general medical unit and moved to the cardiology department where I did clinical research and eventually became the clinical nurse coordinator for the Heart Transplant Program.   After many years of urban life, my growing family moved back to the north shore.  In 2011, I started working as a school nurse at Beverly High School.  Currently, I work part time, Monday-Friday, from 10:00-2:00.  I have completed my certification through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.  I am interested  in community health and preventative medicine and feel that school health is the perfect combination of both!  Please feel free to contact me at

I am also a fellow Beverly High Alumni and attended Salem State College where I earned my Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing.  I have been a registered nurse for over twenty years, and have had many wonderful experiences and opportunities in that time caring for individuals of all ages. I became interested in school nursing several years ago when I volunteered to substitute at my children's’ elementary school, and fell in love with how school nursing consistently challenges and motivates me to do my best in supporting children as they grow and learn. I  joined the amazing staff at Beverly High School in 2009, and my hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00- 2:45.  I can be reached at:

Cathy Ober, LPN

Growing up in a military family gave me the opportunity to travel the world before settling in Massachusetts with my family.  I attended the University of Maine at Farmington earning my Bachelor of Science degree in Rehabilitation Services.  I have been a nurse for close to 20 years with a diverse work history which has allowed me to care for people in every stage of life.  In 2010, I joined the team at Beverly High School. Providing adolescents with a safe and supportive environment where they can learn healthy lifelong habits is what I am most passionate about.  My hours are 8:00a-2:45p and I can be reached at .
