     Bolshevik:  1:A member of the extremist wing of the Russian Social Democratic party that seized supreme power in Russia by the Revolution of November 1917.  2:  Communist.

corroborate:  to support with evidence or authority:  make more certain.

credibility:  the quality of being believable on reasonable grounds.

February/March Revolution.  For an explanation of the differences between Russian use of the Gregorian calendar and the Julian calendar used in the west, click here.  Under the older (Gregorian) calendar, the Revolution happened in March.  Under the new calendar (adopted later by the Bolsheviks), the Revolution happened in February.  The same is true of the October/November Revolution.

Marxist:  a believer in the theory of Karl Marx, especially a theory and practice of socialism including the labor theory of value, the class struggle, and dictatorship of the proletariat until the establishment of a classless society.

proletariat:  the laboring class; especially the class of industrial workers who lack their own means of production and hence sell their labor to live.

refute:  to prove wrong by argument or evidence; to disprove.

socialist:  one who advocates or practices the theory that the best system of society is one in which the government operates the means of production.
