I. Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks for Health Education, specific to Substance Abuse http://www.doe.mass.edu/frameworks/health99/toc.html

Each group's presentation should address the four learning standards: effects on the body, healthy decisions, healthy behaviors, and creating a healthy environment.

II. Beverly High School.

A. The BHS Library

The library is equipped with computers for typing all work to be passed in and internet access. The internet access includes; EBSCO, Info Trac, SIRS Knowledge Base, Boston Globe, and Electric Library, as well as, CD-ROM software including, Athena, Britannica, Encyclopedia of World Cultures, Masterplots Complete, and 1999 McGraw-Hill Enc. of Science & Technology.

B. The BHS Health Room

Students will have an opportunity to explore and use the various materials available in the Health Room: videos, pamphlets, books, program packages, and other manipulative props.

C. BHS School Supplies

Supplies are limited, but do include poster board, construction paper, scissors, some markers, crayons, glue, staples, and tape. (blank video cassettes not included)

III. Center for Addictive Behaviors - CAB

Each group will be responsible for obtaining at least one piece of reference material from the CAB center. CAB works in conjunction with the Mass. Dept. for Prevention Education and is located at 100 E. Cummings Center. The Librarian, Pat Red, will be notified that my Beverly High students will be visiting her.  Please see her for assistance, she will explain policy, procedure, availability and location of all the materials. She is the sweetest, so please don't forget to use please and thank you.
