Students will be teamed in groups of three.  Each group will be assigned a biome that can be found on the north shore. 

 

For each biome, review the list of web sites from which information can be obtained for the presentation (See Resource Section).  Along with the resources given, each group must find 6 more resources that relate to their specific biome. 

This must contain a COMBINATION of websites, encyclopedias, books, journals, and magazines.

Make sure that each resource is accurate, useful, and up to date

Each group must also keep complete bibliographical information for each resource used.

 

The group will begin brainstorming the presentation, making sure that slides contain the following information:                          (You may need more than 9 slides to do some of the topics justice)

 

  1. Title Slide

  2. Description of the biome

    Climate, Size, Important Features 

  3. Geography

    Location within NEW ENGLAND

    Abiotic Factors

  4. Flora

    Minimum of three species

    Brief Description including Niche

  5. Fauna

    Minimum of three species

    Brief Description including Niche

  6. Food Chain

    Create a food chain to the secondary consumer level (tertiary if possible)

    Be sure to choose organisms typical of the biome

  7. Species Interactions

    Description of at least one symbiotic OR predator-prey relationship

  8. Prediction of the Future

    How are humans affecting the biome both positively and negatively

    Predict what will happen to the biome in 50 years

  9. Bibliography

    To avoid plagiarism, make sure to list ALL resources used.
